Impact Overview

Responsibility built into the operation

Not a report at the end of the year — a set of controls inside the day-to-day.

Producing 4.5 million meals a month carries an obligation, and the way to meet it is operational rather than promotional. GSB reduces food waste at the point it is created, segregates waste at source across five streams, holds ISO 14001 environmental certification, and puts people into the industry through the national FHM training centre.

La Israf — halving food waste by 2030

‘do not waste’

Around a third of all food produced globally is wasted. In a business producing 4.5 million meals a month, that is not an abstract statistic — it is a measurable operational failure, and it can be engineered out.

La Israf is GSB’s food-waste programme. It is being digitalised across every GSB-managed foodservice outlet, supported by employee training on waste-management policy and procedure, and by a customer-facing educational platform. The target is to halve food-waste levels across all GSB-managed outlets by 2030.

Alongside it, we operate a colour-coded waste segregation system at source, using durable, nonabsorbent, foot-operated bins with tight-fitting lids, emptied and disinfected on schedule, in designated zones that prevent cross-contamination.

Vision 2030 Alignment

Saudization, training and national capability

Education → hiring → development.

GSB’s contribution to Vision 2030 is a pipeline, not a pledge. Through an agreement with the National Training Centre for Facilities and Hospitality Management (FHM), we have sponsored 300+ students in recent years — educating them, hiring them and developing them inside the business.

Alongside training, we source locally wherever the supply base allows, and build national capability in an industry that has historically imported it.
